The Start... Getting to know you... and Learning Theory

The Start...

Here we will meet online.... you will find assignments, links, questions, and other resources 
for our Digital Teaching and Learning 2015 course.   Please follow this blog so that you don't miss anything!

If you do not have a gmail account, today is the day to set one up!  It will make your life much easier.  
 Your elearn.emmaus.edu is also a gmail account.

But some students do not want all their course work on their school account.

Learning Targets: (some just for today, some layered across the semester)

  • The students will think about and share (with peers and Mrs. P) their expectations, 
  • The students will process questions, and hopes for learning in this semester's Educational Technology Course. 
    • this will be accomplished by voting on plicker, class discussion and online posting. 
  • The students will meet Mrs. Poling, lead learner, and grasp her philosophy, 
  • will hear some of her expectations, and hopes for this semester together.  
    • this will be accomplished by her own intro, a Mrs. Poling Prezi and a  Powtoon
    • Syllabus review
    • discussing learning theory and how you like to learn (and reading) 
  • The students will desire to grow, learn, and master new skills this semester 
  • The student will stretch their personal learning inside and outside the classroom.  
    • this will be accomplished by goal setting, reporting, and reflections.  
    • accurate self assessment and reflection 
    • Effort, work, and discipline in research, reflection, synthesis, and evaluation. 
    • time in the 21st century world with gadgets, tools, apps, and experimentation.  


Homework Task One:
Classroom Community Building:
  • Get to know you
    • create a prezi, powtoon, or 
      • el ed: make your Children's Lit About Me an online version in a tool you've always wanted to try.  
    • include details like:
      • why do you want to be a teacher
      • how do you learn (learning styles, times of day, formats)
      • your testimony
      • your family/important people
      • your strengths & passions
    • create a blogspot blog and post your get to know you there.
    • email Mrs.Poling the link to your blog post.

In this class, we are about learning new tools, strategies, and resources for learning. 
When you find a new tool, you should be able to answer the question how can I use this as a teacher?
